%3Cdiv%20dir%3D%22ltr%22%20style%3D%22text-align%3A%20left%3B%22%20trbidi%3D%22on%22%3E%0AThe%20University%20of%20Mississippi%20has%20plenty%20of%20events%20lined%20up%20in%20lieu%20of%20%20February%2C%20or%20Black%20History%20Month%2C%20but%20Ole%20Miss's%20storied%20past%20makes%20the%20%20month%20much%20more%20than%20just%20remembrance.%0A%0AOle%20Miss%20helped%20make%20what%20is%20%20considered%20black%20history.%20%20From%20James%20Meredith%20to%20more%20modern%20day%20black%20%20firsts%2C%20the%20University%20of%20Mississippi%20is%20continuously%20writing%20its%20own%20%20story%20of%20black%20history.%0A%0AThe%20university%20is%20featuring%20everything%20from%20%20guest%20lectures%20to%20museum%20exhibits%20to%20dance%20and%20music%20performances%2C%20%20covering%20topics%20from%20African%20Diaspora%20to%20Civil%20Rights%2C%20the%20university%20%20has%20planned%20programming%20for%20every%20day%20of%20the%20month%2C%20all%20in%20celebration.%0A%0AThe%20%20University%20of%20Mississippi%20Museum%20is%20highlighting%20parts%20of%20a%20permanent%20%20collection%20during%20the%20month%20to%20encourage%20appreciation%20of%20Western%20African%20%20history.%20%20The%20selection%20Richard%20K.%20Meyer%20collection%2C%20as%20donated%20by%20the%20%20late%20Meyer%2C%20is%20a%20collection%20of%20works%20from%20the%20Dogon%2C%20Ibo%20and%20Yoruba%20%20cultures.%0A%0A%22We%20appreciate%20anyone%20who%20comes%20in%20and%20is%20able%20to%20find%20and%20%20celebrate%20a%20part%20of%20their%20heritage%2C%22%20Collections%20Manager%20Marti%20Funke%20%20said.%0A%0A%22There%20is%20a%20lot%20of%20history%20behind%20the%20collection%20and%20we%20are%20%20happy%20to%20share%20that.%20%20Most%20people%20of%20Western%20African%20heritage%20would%20be%20%20able%20to%20find%20ties%3B%20it's%20a%20very%20widespread%20collection.%22%0A%0AJust%20before%20%20the%20kick%20off%20of%20Black%20History%20Month%2C%20The%20Overby%20Center%20hosted%20the%20%20premier%20of%20%22Not%20in%20Our%20Town%2C%22%20a%20PBS%20documentary%20showing%20the%20reaction%20to%20%20the%20removal%20of%20%22From%20Dixie%20With%20Love%22%20amongst%20students%20and%20even%20the%20Ku%20%20Klux%20Klan.%0A%0AToran%20Dean%2C%20a%20senior%20from%20Hattiesburg%2C%20Miss.%2C%20was%20one%20of%20%20the%20students%20featured%20in%20the%20film.%20%20Dean%20notes%20that%20while%20many%Proxy-Connection: keep-alive
